History of Zaporizhzhia Bread Factory No. 1
On November 22, 1947, Zaporizhzhia Bread Factory No. 1 began its operations. This new establishment comprised the Upper Khortitsa Bakery (serving Upper Khortitsa and the right bank) and Bread Factory No. 1 on Verkhnya Street, equipped with 6 ovens. In 1947, the plant’s production capacity amounted to 80 tons of bread and 2.5 tons of bakery products.
Over time, mechanization and automation transformed production. A warehouse for bulk flour storage was established, and upgrades were undertaken to reconfigure the ovens for the production of bun products. In 1989, responding to public demand, renovations on the bun-confectionery department were initiated, aiming for the production of 4.5 tons of flour confectionery products daily. The department became operational in 1992, but the modernization project was left incomplete when funding was ceased. Privatization of the enterprise started in 1996, transitioning ownership from state to collective. Since 1997, Zaporizhzhia Bread Factory No. 1 has been part of the Hlibodar group of companies. In the competitive market environment, shareholders and the collective team successfully modernized the plant and ventured into domestic and international markets. Presently, the enterprise has a staff of approximately 270 individuals and yields around 9000 tons of products annually.
Today, “Zaporizhzhia Bread Factory No. 1” stands as one of the leading enterprises in Zaporizhzhia Oblast for the production of flour confectionery products. It has evolved into a modernized facility with highly mechanized and automated production, a certified laboratory, stringent quality control measures for raw materials and finished products, and a skilled workforce. With the goal of meeting consumer needs and expectations in terms of product safety and quality, cultivating a positive image, and enhancing the enterprise’s competitiveness.
